Vintage Seiko.
Someone had buffed out the case finishing decades ago. So, I decided to refinish it. I love the way it turned out.

LycanfrickI did. Many grits of sandpaper, polishing compounds, and hours of vigorous rubbing ;-).
500 grit wet/dry sandpaper for the brushed look. 500, 1000, 2000, 3000 wet/dry sandpaper and a dremel with a hard felt burr and simichrome for the polished areas.
The problem is that it takes a lot of time and effort. Some people just polish the entire case on a buffing wheel, which ruins all the case lines. Your watch repair person most probably does not want to spend the time/effort nor ruin the watch.
