If I am hearing 15hz to 12.5khzwould it be worth investing in audio gear?

more_vert
Few years ago I checked and I remember I could hear up around 16khz but today I find it is only upto 12.5khz.

Tyll from inner fidelity retired informing his hearing is not as good.

I am still waiting for THX AAA amp and recently bought shure se846 and really happy with it.

But would it still make sense to buy more audio gears considering the hearing frequency is shrinking?

Well, I am still enjoying music.

Just wanted to see if anyone had this question to themselves and what was the answer.

I think I will stop buying any more expensive gears but occassionally buy some cheap ones out of curiosity.

Listen to some test tones and once you find out what high frequencies sound like, you will realise that you are not missing anything above 15K. It sounds like a high pitched mosquito whine, it is not pleasant at all.
Here are some frequency sweeps: https://www.audiocheck.net/soundtests_headphones.php

Screw the high frequency, take everything you can get, enjoy the amazingly affordable audio technology available today. If you have not yet; get some DSD 2.8 studio masters, a driver and a DAC that can push/recieve native, if yours can’t, good USB & RCA - no weak links, hook it up to your new THX & your best transducers,,, you will thank me;)
Do not stop; there is a new musical valley to explore; that is pure lucidity; that the artists wanted to share...

The sound quality of any product is not determined solely by the frequency range it covers. I can't hear above 10kHz, but I have no trouble distinguishing the sounds of various pieces of equipment.

Most music are recorded in that frequency range so yes it is worth it. There isn't much to hear past 12k anyway.
