There are always external amps that you can drive with your phone. Some of them are fairly inexpensive.
What are you trying to drive with it?

HeeftyI'm not 100% sure of your question but I'll say this, I've heard of these portable amps but I have no idea which ones are compatible with my iPhone X and headphones. I listen to my music on the go

Duck71What kinds of headphones are you listening to? I can give you a better recommendation if I know what impedance you need to drive.
Also, are you on the 3.5mm jackless iphone or do you actually have onboard audio gear? If not you'll want something that has a DAC in it as well.
Always more details to keep track of.

HeeftyI play Tidal (cuz it streams in hifi ) through my iPhone X using my Klipsch Ri6 in ear buds using the lightning adapter since the phone has no 3.5 mm jack. Occasionally I will use my JVC J88 cans. I hope that answers the question and I do appreciate the help

Duck71Those are both pretty easy to drive. I'm surprised you can't get them loud enough for you from the included dongle to be honest.
You could use the included dongle as your decoder and not have to worry about lightning compatibility to drive something like FiiO A5 or A3.
If you want a DAC in the same unit, the FiiO Q1 mkii should work.

HeeftyHaving loud music is a weakness of mine. Do you think I need a DAC since Tidal streams in hifi and doesn't play bitrate music

Duck71You always need a DAC if you're listening to digital music. The dongle that came with your iPhone has one in it. The question is whether you need a different one. I can't answer that for you. I can say that dedicated devices tend to perform better. I can't say whether that has value to you or not.

Duck71No problem.
I suppose since we're here, on Massdrop, I should also point out that they do drop amps like the ones we've been talking about periodically. If you're patient you can get a great deal on something here.
Examples: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/aune-b1s-portable-headphone-amp https://www.massdrop.com/buy/topping-nx1s-portable-headphone-amp https://www.massdrop.com/buy/bluewave-get-wireless-dac-amp

HeeftyI am definitely going to keep my eye out for one. Never heard of Massdrop before a couple of days ago and after browsing they sure do have some great deals

Duck71They're great, as long as you don't expect to get your items quickly. Patience is required around here. Reason being that they don't keep stock of the items they sell. They arrange a price for a group buy, purchase the number of units ordered and ship them out individually after they receive the bulk shipment. The process takes time.

Oppo DAC/AMP (and others) connects directly to your iPhone lets you crank it up as loud as you like. Oppo's out of business now, btw, but there are plenty of similar items out there.

RayFHa-2 has been on my list of maybe-I'll-get-it-someday items for a while. I'm guessing that day will never come now.
Spend most of my time on full sized cans near a desk, so no need really. Every now and again I find myself on a trip somewhere that it would be nice to have for though. So far I've enjoyed my CEntrance DACPort Slim driven by my absurdly huge battery pack phone case for the same purposes though.

HeeftyTruthfully, I'm pretty much in the same boat--I like the thing, but I have too many other ways to listen to music when I'm not at home. All of them are more convenient than a fist full of electronics connected to a long wire leading to my ears. I have lots of wireless ways to hear my music, I have a decent music system in my primary vehicle, and my desk system is good with our without cans (I like my speakers a lot).
So, not sure where the Oppo really fits in to my sitch--guess I'll have to keep trying to find some way?
