I would like to see women's jackets (rain, fleece, down) that cover my backside and are long enough in the arms. I am no giant at 5' 8", but I struggle to get coverage for the hip/ backside area. It seems to be acknowledged that sleeping bags require additional fill around these "cold" areas in women's models...but jackets seem to be victims of fashion...wearing a pack they become midrifs. I find myself going to men's apparel in hiking gear to get the length but then the fit is wrong in the showers and torso

BlooRinzYup! I own a men's medium OR Helium Jacket shell..and I normally wear a Women's Small! I also can't wear a lot of women's insulated tops due to lack of room in arm socket. The Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer was particularly bad for that.

CardamomteaThanks for the tip about the MH Ghost...Have been considering a lightweight down jacket for a while...so maybe it's a men's jacket again if I go the MH option

BlooRinzI tried on the MH Ghost Whisperer, Feathered Friends Eos, Patagonia Down Sweater Hoody, Arc'teryx Cerium LT Hoody and Thorium AR Hoody.
I typically wear a Women's Small for tops. The 2017 Ghost was a no-go in any size, and the men's didn't work for me either. I know a woman who wears the Ghost, and she doesn't appear to have small arms, so I don't know if the arm socket varies year to year. I would try it on if you can.
The Patagonia Small was plenty roomy in middle, but more restrictive in arms than I would have liked. I could have put up with it if there were no other options. The medium was better in the arms but way too loose in the middle.
The Arc'teryx Cerium LT was very trim, and not enough room in arms in the small. The medium wasn't a whole lot better.
I ordered the Thorium online so I never got to try it prior to purchase. I ordered the medium and kept it. It's bulkier and heavier than the Cerium LT, but roomy enough in the arms. I wanted a jacket I could sleep in while using my quilt, so did not want uncomfy arms :-)
I tried on the Eos, but I can't remember specific feelings about it (at the time I was more focused on their fully baffled jackets and just tried on Eos for fun). I don't recall finding it uncomfortable like the Ghost Whisperer. I will try it on again next time I'm in Seattle. I like my Thorium but it's 13oz with 750 down. I needed something at a decent price point (40% off, I paid about $195) quickly. The Eos is 9oz, so I'd prefer that.
There's also the Enlightenment Equipment Torrid synthetic jacket. Looks promising, but I'd need to try it on first... https://enlightenedequipment.com/womens-torrid-apex-jacket-stock/

CardamomteaI just purchased a Patagonia Micro Puff and I like it but haven't tested it in the field yet. Also I don't think it is going to be as warm as a down jacket, or would require more layering underneath defeating the lightweight purpose. Thanks for all you tips! However, I am in Australia and the ability to try on many of the brands you mentioned is not possible :(. We do get some lines of the brands you mentioned, but normally they are not as extensive as the US. I just watched a Bigfoot vlog on 2018 Trail Days and he featured an interesting gear company called Lightheart making a female clothesline that seems to be a good length in the torso https://lightheartgear.com/collections/womens-clothing/products/hiking-shirt Not sure about the arm socket though...

BlooRinzAh yeah, I've heard about that with Australia. I'll check out Lightheart, thanks for the tip!
