Truly, completely, waterproof without additions such as inner bags (pack becomes wet and heavy), extended ponchos or rain covers, yet, durable. Basically a large dry sack. Stretchable pockets (similar to Spibelt) on hip belt, which is removable. Bottom sleeping bag compartment, or possibly pack sleeping bag into a thinner brain that compresses. One main compartment wide enough to fit a bear canister sideways, or perhaps an easy method to attach the canister to the outside. Removable hydration sleeve. Molle loops on shoulder straps, to attach optional bottle or strap pocket. Straps that come with strap management system (hair rubber band type, web dominators, or similar). Two drying pockets on front. Built in tree strap to hang bag from tree. Matching dope bag and EDC/lumbar belt.
Have not started any hikes yet, but do have a Mountain Hardware outdry pack. The biggest drawback to me is the main compartment is not wide enough for a bear canister to go in sideways. Do have the Ursack Allmitey, but it is large and not accepted in all areas of bear canister requirement.
