This Quechua 50L backpack by Decathalon is currently on my shortlist. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/travel-500-50l-m-backpack-grey-id_8383140.html
Justification: - Price point: $85 in store vs. comps at REI for $200+ - Warranty: Lifetime with 1 year return policy even with light wear - Full bag access with 1 wide case opening around the back - Versatility as a travel bag (carry-on approved) - Lockable zippers - Standard other features: Rain cover in extra storage pocket which also fits shoes, detachable day murse (man purse) etc..
UPDATE: Just read all the reviews for it and primary considerations 1. The bottom zip pocket doesn't lock, which makes the top lock somewhat silly since people can still access the contents of the bag. Their product managers noted that you can lock the inside zip within the shoe outer compartment, but extra gear there - likely shoes / and rain cover - could be snatched. 2. People noted that the strap storage could be better.
