A good suspension system and weight distribution are a must, since I'm at best a lightweight backpacker and do not hike enough to justify the price or comfort losses (it seems you have to choose between these two) of an ultralight setup. Other than that, some easy access pockets (hip belt for snacks, a larger one for glasses and med-kit) are a really necessary addition and so is a convenient way to attach my trekking poles, as well as a separate water bladder pocket.
Currently Osprey packs have suited me the best and I am currently looking at getting a more heavy-lifter pack (Ariel or Xena) for longer journeys.

EisheI have the Xenith , and it is sooo comfortable. Even though it is not lightweight (105L), it disappears once on my back.. You probably know.......but getting the waist belt heat molded at the shop is a god send.

MathsNerdThe moldable hip-belt is actually one of the main reasons why I'm looking at these two bags. I don't think my local shop has the heating box, but I've read that time and a lot of wear will work as well. Probably gonna try them on this weekend, so fingers crossed for a good fit for at least one of them.

EisheI bought mine from another country, but my local shop (I have spent quite a bit there) was happy to do it for me. I just had to walk around the shop for 20 mins wearing it among some well heeled shoppers. I have a friend who also has one, not heated, and he loves it too. NB. mine is before the Airscape harness.

MathsNerdI used my Aether 70L on a month long backpacking trip, not heated, still love it. Osprey is my go to.
