Wrist check Saturday. It was time to retire my old "beater" Invicta 8926 and replace it with the newer 8926OB. The same price as the old one (only €99,-), but with an upgraded NH35A (Seiko) movement. Hand windable, hacking. It is a big improvement on a budget. I can recommend this watch to anyone who wants a reliable automatic that does not break the bank...

its a nice watch, the Swiss made version catches my eye occasionally, and price is attractive as i've seen it at 199 (gold dial gold plate bracelet, and blue dial gold plate bracelet) new for the Swiss made selita based one, but no in the color combo i want (for a Swiss beater, ie gym wear, etc), and at that price, if nothing else it can serve as a donor movement if one of my other selita based watches w same movement ever needs a transplant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8aKMlze2kg

Danbo_de_PianoBought mine for € 99,95 and € 5,95 for shipping. So make sure you get the best deal... I assume when you say 199 you mean U$ right? You should be able to get it for a lot less. Make sure you get the new version with the yellow rotor. [Edit] they have a titanium version as well, I was to tempted to get it at €139,95...

I like all my Invictas never had a problem with any of them , and believe me I put them thru hell as they have been my beater-work watches for years!

Have you ever gotten the watch wet? I ask because there's a lawsuit in Florida claiming they are not as water resistant as claimed. People were complaining online, then coincidentally an attorney buys one, gets it wet, and is now the plaintiff in a lawsuit seeking class action certification.
Although the circumstances of the lawsuit sound a little sleazy (my opinion only), Invicta's defense is in itself a bit sleazy, in that they say they never really claimed their "Pro Diver 200 m" watches were waterproof. All they say is that if it fogs up or rusts within one year they'll replace it. After that, hey, buy a new one, it's cheap! That's standing behind their product. But indeed the price is right. I just wonder if I can water the garden while wearing it. But at that price ... Who cares?

Here's the complaint in the lawsuit, which has a photo of a fogged-up watch:

And some summaries of the action:

Here Invicta responds:

This guy describes other legal problems Invicta has had, as well as its "colorful" CEO:

Another weak spot for watches is the gasket on the case back the the way the threading works, especially if the watch has ever been opened, but even with new watches. Here's a guy complaining about a Helson diver:
https://forums.watchuseek.com/f74/helson-watches-wanabe-divers-545787.html
The complaining consumer opened the watch and found what he thinks is an intrinsic design flaw in how the case back is designed.

There's a version of this that has an open heart front, no date (and thus no Cyclops), a NH38A movement, but otherwise seems the same. I was thinking of getting that one, but perhaps the open heart will make the time harder to tell at a glance, and it will also destroy the fake Rolex vibe (not that I'm expecting to fool anyone).

I want a gardening watch that I can scrape up and not care.

CloacaI think it won't effect legibility that much. I actually kinda dig the faux Rolex vibe of my model 😁 I would just get one if i were you: they are pretty reliable workhorses.

Is the 8932 version with the Hattori movement the same as your old one?
https://www.jomashop.com/invicta-watch-8926ob.html https://www.jomashop.com/invicta-watch-8932ob.html
It's $53 compared to $85 at Jomashop. I feel like picking up one of each. Or maybe get one in blue:

Or pay a little more for this?

On second thought ...
Invicta is a bit schizo.

I agree that the 8926OB makes a great beater watch. How long did you have your original 8926? Looks pretty beat up but I bet it still runs great.

It really is a gorgeous watch for the money. I picked up this same model last week at an embarrassingly low sale price. I have an older 8926, but I love the two-tone look and when I learned they're putting the Seiko NH35A movements in the newer ones I had to upgrade. Enjoy!
