Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. The keyboard is currently a Pok3r plate and PCB with Cherry MX Clears in a silver MCK Aluminum Case, with Nuclear Data Keycaps. The first album shows the keycaps as they are now, with some Out of the Vault keycaps added as well as a vintage NOS Honeywell keycap I modded to fit Cherry switches.
In the (very) near future I'll be building up two 60% keyboards using parts from the LeandreN Round 4 group buy (plates and PCBs from GON) with 67g and 78g Zealio switches to replace the Pok3r plate/pcb/switches I'm currently using.
