Coming from someone who runs barefoot style but also like to walk in minimalist footwear i'm a big fan of the Vibram Five Fingers but my number one shoe would have to be the Merrell Trailglove. I'm always on the look out for zero - low drop footwear with a good ground feel but also a degree of protection. I've tried Aaltra brand before but find their zero drop stuff is made way to thick to the point the shoes don't flex right and eventually this means the soles start to seperate from the uppers. I realise i'm starting to ramble but: comfort, durability (top and bottom), weight, wide toe box, heel drop height would be my main focus, oh and ofc cost is a factor as outside of the US all minimalist footwear seem to attract crazy mark ups.
