What's the best 'universal keycap' keyboard?

more_vert
As title, I'm trying to figure out the keyboard that the majority of basic cap sets would fit without needing to mess around with R3 home keys and 2.5 shifts. Thanks.

Anything with a fully standard layout. This can be ANSI or ISO (although ISO might give you problems with some sets), fullsize with numpad, TKL, or 60%.

Thanks for the replies - guess I must have written it out in a hurry between stuff...I'm only interested in the basic key functions plus the four arrow keys. Don't need a numpad or Fs. Not interested in backlighting, but I do like a compact design, rather like the Red Scarf II that's just appeared on drops.

Both good options. Clueboard is almost standard too, just uses a 1u function key on the bottom row I believe.

Thank you so much. Sorry for the delay in replying. I will look to get one of these two in that case. That will save much head scratching when the big sets come out.
Thanks again.

There are lots that fit the bill. As Tosel mentions, it's often the bottom row which you need to check for any differences. Do you want full size, TKL, 60%? Backlighting? Budget?

An ansi tkl, be sure to check the space row: the usual standard is having a 6.25 units space, and seven 1.25 keys (3 on the left and 4 on the right). Some comes with a 6u spacebar, 1.5u ctrl and alt and 1u windows button on both sides and one only 1u on the right. This second layout is more common on gaming keyboard, it usually needs a second kit. As an alternative you can get a 60%, but you'll need to set a lot of buttons as secondary functions, or a full keyboard, but you'll have to buy the numpad kit. Obviously the keyboard needs to have cherry shaped stems on the switches!
