The NX4 DSD requires the Apple Camera Kit adapter in order to work with iOS devices.
I chose the non DSD version of the NX4 because it had native iOS support and came with the lightning to micro USB cable.

mindhead1I was not aware of the distinction between the DSD and nonDSD version working with the Apple products containing the lightning connnector.
I tried the Apple camera connector with the cable that came with the NX4 and unfortunately, it still doesn't play any music from my phone. Not sure what to do now.

LouflacThat sucks. I would check the Reddit Headphone forum for some suggestions on getting this to work. I remember people having the wrong version of the camera kit and/or the version of iOS they were on causing issues.
In the meantime, you can use the dongle and run audio to the NX4DSD aux in. You would not be getting the benefit of the DAC, but you could still use the amp.
Can you return the NX4 or did you get it from Massdrop? If you can’t return it, look into selling it and getting a portable unit with native iOS support.

mindhead1I bought it on Massdrop, so I can't return it. I'll look around on the Redit forums. Thanks for the tips.

mindhead1SUCCESS! I got it to work with the Apple camera adapter. I just had to fiddle around with the volume buttons on the iphone. They have to be set at 100% in order for the Topping to get the signal (go figure). Thanks for your tips!

mindhead1The problem with non-DSD version is that lightning audio is limited to 48 Khz. It's best to use the camera kit so that it will transfer as raw data via USB protocol and then let the DAC do its business :)

rdodevHi, if if don’t mind me asking. I just got my NX 4 dsd version and I have an iPhone 6. I failed hard since I bought a tiny adapter from micro usb to lightning which doesn’t work. Now apple themselves offer so many different adapters and I don’t know which one ist the real one to go with and also I’m wondering if it has to be an original apple product, since they are way more expensive. cheers

rdodevDoes the camera kit work with iOS 12.1.2? I've heard reports that it does not.
