RomniArcade - Serious 3D Printed Arcade

more_vert
Being an old school gamer since pong, game watch units, up to my Playstation Pro i always dreamed about to create my own "console" from scratch. As a huge fan of mobile gaming and old mini-games from namco, coleco, nintendo (game watch) i started this project 2 years ago. Before that i have built 10 wooden arcades of my own design for friends, but it's a crazy idea doing woodwork inside an apartment.
So i moved my mind to create a tiny little arcade based on the ones from the good old days, just because i didn't found anything like that in the market yet... Something that looks like a toy, but you can play like a serious gamer. :) And something that i could produce anywhere in the world just having internet to buy all the parts, solder iron, and a 3D Printer.

As i have moved from Brazil to Toronto last year, i started to produce those units here after buying myself a new 3D printer. This way Romni arcade was born. It's on final beta stage, and near a point that i could sell it. Maybe i could try sell it assembled or as kits.. I am not sure yet how to make this happen. Never sold anything that i have made for an open public...
I don't even know if this is something that people would like to have on their homes. But as i love mine, i am pretty sure that some other people would like it too.

Just a feedback after some long days. My 3DPrinter is acting a bit crazy this last month and i hit a small wall with some powering issue (Need to buy some new batteries i would like to find a reasonable way to check the battery levels in the case), so the project is slowed down a bit. Maybe i will start selling then on Ebay or Kijiji (canada) at least for the Beta Units that i have. I already spent a lot of money on prototyping process so maybe it's time to get something back to invest again on updates. But all the units are pretty full functional and fun machines. They are just not "manufactured" on a "industry" level lets say. i need to build each one by myself.

Oh i see. Nice little case ! :) Thanks for the comment, that made me realizes that i didn't post ANY image from the back of the unit (Huge fail lol). Just updated the post with more pics that shows it from inside and the back part. There's a separated plate for the pi, so this way i can update/adapt the unit easier for future versions of pi or slight different board outputs, just printing a new version of that piece.
kumodotah brilliant! Love it! This is very clean, even better than expected.

FrankWhiteHi Frank ! Not sure if you are asking generically, or about my post. This is not a "Product" yet. It's on final prototyping stage. Already fully working units, just a bit "rough" as any diy product. I did the post just to share it, and i hope to use Massdrop to help selling it for sure. in the near future.
