HOW DIRTY IS YOUR POWER? More than you think...

more_vert
I did some testing to test the theory. Remmeber, if you cannot drop 8k on something like this, theres the ifi ac purifier (in my other videos)

This shouldn't matter right? The capacitors in the power supply for pretty much everything should smooth that right out. I don't think what's coming out of the wall should matter, as that is AC anyway. I could be wrong, my knowledge of electronics is pretty basic, but I would think that it is more important to test whats coming out of your power supplies than what is coming out of your wall.

fhoodThats what I thought too but atleast for my ears, it did make the background more black when using something to clean it before it enters into your system

Sounds like we're just power-shaming here. I will not be judged by my power!

All you need is a Tripp lite ISOBAR Ultra; 4 outlets for less than $40.
Even that is probably overkill, a couple of Ferrite Core clamp-on beads will probably be all you can actually HEAR, and that's only if you're actually getting audible EMF hum or interference.
Agreed I hear the abatement of noise (blacker background/removed hum when certain devices are on) as about the only change with any power gear I've tried. The nicer stuff does it a shade better than the cheaper stuff but I'm not a classical listener exploring the depths of my noise floor so cheap works at the moment.

I see ! sounds like you got rid of your problems then ! thanks for your input. Will certainly try that in my system !
I would like to see some home ratings as well, my gut tells me that a Show Room/Office would have more EMI present than your average home due to the sheer number of items connected in professional environments.

ElectronicVicesthat sounds like a good idea ! I will take it home and also to my friends house to do some measurements !

That is a really interesting video. I have noticed a buzz/hiss on my AMP (verified that it is in fact my AMP since I can unplug all input to it other than power and move the volume to 0, then on 2 different sets of headphones still hear the buzz). So I had been considering replacing the AMP, but if it is the power that is causing the issue, then it would be nice to get that scrubbed instead of purchasing a different AMP for no difference in sound.

BetaWar1st: what kind of amp?
2nd: before you go throwing all kinds of money at the problem, have you at least used ferrite beads? My wife had some really bad EMF interference on her Swan 2.1 speaker setup and ferrite clamp-ons and a quality shielded interconnect fixed the problem.

BetaWarThanks ! and yes, it can potentially be the power but it can also be just your AMP. Are you using a tube amp?

if noise is such a problem, why isnt the main room sound proofed?

AdrianLWe did acoustically treat it to a certain extent. Over sound proofing would actually make the sound room "dead" sounding. Which we do not want ! Let me know if you have more questions

Really ? Thats interesting. If you can get a chance can you explain how that works in detail? If something so cheap can solve my problems and still retain the sound quality of my system, I am all ears
