As far as I understand it, the only import/duty type of fee you pay is a $10 (Cdn) brokerage fee plus HST. In addition however the U.S. value (including shipping) is converted to Canadian dollars and then you pay HST on that amount. If you bought anything here you would have to pay the HST too.
In the case of the HD6XX, I am anticipating that the $200 U.S. price for the headphones plus the $15 U.S. price for shipping will be converted to Canadian dollars. So $215 U.S. will be about $290 Canadian. A brokerage fee of $10 Canadian will be added so the price before tax will be about $300 Canadian. The HST will add another $39 Canadian. So in my hands these headphones will end up costing me about $340 Canadian.
3 years ago I paid almost $500 for my HD650's from Amazon.ca. In fact if I ordered them again today they would cost me $588!!

TunesloverI randomly stumbled on this thread and couldn't agree more. The severity of this issue is infuriating to us all. Business have been vexing us Candians with currency exhanges, customs taxes and even duty fees to the point that I personally have sworn off of any US distributor. To me they seem to be less concerned to with breaking even, but more so on profiting over border discrepancies. A problem I have with Amazon.ca right now has been the serious issue with scalpers. They will buy shit and resale it for a profit of sometimes x2 the original price. Such things include collectibles, electronic, clothing etc. on our CA sites. These products are ethier scare or sold 3rd party. Some of the sellers that I knew were scalping goods, actually turn out to be from Europe and are trying to sell on a Canadian site. Lastley on the topic of Massdrop ever having Canadian based plant. Sadly I do not think we have the market. The demand for a site such as massdrop will probably not keep afloat like it does in the USA. They have a population of 300 million, europe more so.. even Mexico would have a better chance lol.

TunesloverIf only brokerage were that simple! I recently paid $100 US brokerage for 5 "free" t-shirts. The $10 might apply through USPS, but it's not the same through courier services.
