There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). The story of that auction is well-known so I'll only...

...when I woke up with my phone mashed under my cheek, but apparently, thankfully, not.
I've been trying for days to say I love the color job on those "natural" G10 scales. I find them to be rather hideous in their, er, natural state, so to speak, but I like that the green isn't too radical a change. It just makes it so the scales no longer look like they need to go under sun lamps and have tests for diminished liver function. I love the M4 blades, and I always try to buy exclusives from BladeHQ (and BladeOps) since they're my local businesses--and holy hell, are they ever good to me; that could be an entire post in itself--but I wish they'd have gone with another look for their Spyderco exclusives.
I have the satin blade--now heavily patina'd--Manix, and the PM3; also the black DLC blade PM2. I intended to buy the DLC PM3 last weekend, but instead got some carbon fiber scales, which burned up the knife budget for that week (more about those scales in a min). I'll probably leave the PM2 as-is, its a "drawer model" but I'll be going to town on the other too as soon as I'm able, which brings me to a cpl questions: first, warm vinegar I can imagine is pungent smelling, but what about the dye? Any extra weird smell with that? My cohabitant family members are almost pathological about their aversion to smells.
Secondly, have you ever tried any different colors? The green looks plenty good, just wondering about options, and how much of the final product is because of the inherent hue of the G10. For example, would the right blue produce tealscales--perhaps not unlike the "submit" button I'm looking at right now on this page, if your settings are the same? Dont know if you know, but you literally couldn't know less than me on the subject.
Returning to the carbon fiber scales: they are blue twill, for my ZT 0393, and I'm very pleased with them. I'd upgraded the pivot screw and filler tab to copper, and the clip to blue Ti using Hinderer products; the scales are froma company I'd never heard of called Karbadize. Upgrading my two 0393s, and adding lanyards to various knives is as much customization as I've done so far. I would like to do more, but not in the summer. That's winter work. 0393 front/presentation side:
That orange pivot is sex.
