I asked Sennheiser in their official thread here a while back for a massdrop collaboration for a portable closed back! Something like an improved version of the over ear Momentum (HD1 they are called now?)
We have seen just about every iteration of headphones/earphones in a collab except portable cans, unless I'm missing something. The Fostex series, IEMs like the Pinnacle and MD, open back HD6XX and AKG 7XX, gaming headphones PC37X...
I keep wondering about and hoping for an over ear portable closed back. Sennheiser has the capability to do something like this!

mayorblurpsOut of curiosity, what would you look for a momentum/HD1 collab to improve?
Had a chance to pick up a pair at a crazy good price, and I've been really impressed.
I generally prefer open backs, but there are definitely times I've sat among my thousands of dollars worth of equipment listening to my HD1s directly from my phone.
On top of that, they just look cool. I am surprised they don't seem to get the love other cans do, so I'm wondering what I'm missing.

GunsOfBrixtonI haven't picked up the newest generation, but I still love the original momentums! If I can find the post on the Sennheiser thread with axel, I'll post the link here! Small mechanical improvements mainly since I too love the sound sig.
I've hesitated to buy the HD1, only because I already have too many headphones and IEMs and the OG momentums still work perfectly (minus the Apple device only cable). I'm glad they improved the ear cups. The original momentums used to be on Tyll's wall of Fame but I think they got knocked off by the NAD viso.

mayorblurpsWell, for sure you have good taste! I don't know, maybe they are just too pretty for anyone to take them seriously.
I actually liked the HD1 over ear so much that I picked up the wireless on ears as well when I saw a great deal. I was surprised by how different the tuning of the on ear was - very bass oriented, but still tight and clear. Really unique among my (too many) headphones. Like Beats sophisticated older brother that actually graduated and got a real job. :)
The only down side was it did take a lot of patience to get the fit broken in, unlike the over ears. They were like a vise out of the box. But after a week or so of stretching, they got much better..
