NAD Viso HP50 are the best closed back I've heard. But the headband could be more comfortable (flat not round padding, doesn't go small enough for my tiny head), and the earpads could be wider and softer. Also it looks like you are going to the gun range.

brianf7I've heard a lot of great things about this headphone. If I recall, they use square cups, which aren't the most attractive IMO (the "gun range" comment fits nicely there! LOL). I'd go with round cups, and yeah, fix that headband if it is indeed uncomfortable.

brianf7Aesthetics aside I absolutely love my Nad HP50 cans as they sound amazing, fold flat for travel, easy to drive, and are comfortable enough to wear for over an hour or so but not for long periods of time. So these cans should definitely be considered. Did I mention they don't sound like closed cans? And let us not forget the PSB sister cans are very similar to the Nads but I think the Nads sounds a little better overall and more comfortable.

GregfrasYes, I heard the same about the PSB. I can listen to them for a few hours but think the ATH-M40 are more comfortable. The Dekoni aftermarket earpads for M40 fit the NAD pretty well, but they are too thick, and bass is unacceptably diminished. NAD could fix both the pads and the band, then they would have killer headphones.

brianf7Was looking for alternative pads but haven't been able to find any, so thanks for the heads up on them. Guess per your statement I'll keep them as is. But I highly doubtful that if NAD were to be selected that any changes are to be made as Paul Barton who created the PSB NAD headphones was very scientific in his approach to making them and will not change anything about them. Plus they are focusing more on the newer HP70 cans they recently released. I heard them and thought they were great, but I am not a fan of Bluetooth headphones and the extra weight of the battery it houses.
Has anyone anything to say about the Audioquest Night owls? Just curious to hear some feedback about them. Can get them for a incredible low price and am considering getting a pair.
