How do brands/watches get picked for drops?

more_vert
I’m really interested in this. Was fortunate enough to get an Oris Aquila recently, but I find that tbe drop vary considerably in quality and price-point. A couple brands I’d love to see floated here would be Sinn, Marathon, Mont Blanc, Omega, Longines, Tudor and obviously others. Hopefully they’re paying attention, so add others!?!

replying to follow but i suspect it's an overstock /unsold stock issue, brands that have a premium valuation in the market, that is have little trouble moving big volume at retail are unlikely to get drops, usually it seems the discount is had because as an non AD, the expense of a warranty can be factored out, ie no warranty, and also if it's a low selling model/slow to sell model, or a discontinued piece, then we could probably see a decent chance of a drop. Highly sought after brands with very popular models, or upper tier type stuff when it does 'drop' they tend not to sell much because of the price point and/or the discount complainers harp on it, so there's little incentive for them to pursue more drops of that type, why bother since they'll just catch flack , and not sell.... just a trend I've observed, again i'll follow in case folks w more know-how chime in, but my 2 cents.

Danbo_de_PianoAlso with WIS, they look at movement, fit/finish and deem it good/bad/etc. Seems hard to make a buck if you're not doing a major deal, hence i want a MD x Steinhart type partnership. Great watches/well made at bottom tier prices but less homage and maybe more of an 'original' design.
