Whats The Difference Between Mech And Membrane?

more_vert
That's the question I ask everybody who want's to buy a mech keyboard and 95% of the time they answer with "Mechanical keyboards are better" I find this very funny and hope to one day make some tutorials for the differences in both and on how to get into mech boards since apparently it's quite hard for some. Thoughts anyone?

A mechanical keyboard describes the type of switch that actuates when it is pressed down. In a membrane keyboard it is a rubber dome that has to be pushed all the way down in order to register a keystroke in a mechanical keyboard that is not necessary . I am not too great at explaining this so here is a very helpful video if you are interested to learn more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXCKHoiNu1o and just skip to 0:19. Also mechanical keyboards are certified for 50-70 million keystrokes whereas it is very hard to find certification like that for a membrane keyboard. this was just a very brief overview of the differences if you interested in a mechanical keyboard I suggest that you do some of your own research. I hope this was helpful!
