If you need ANC, word on the street is the Sony WH1000XM2 is the best thing out there: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-Noise-Cancelling-Headphones-WH1000XM2/dp/B074KBWVYT/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1535562341&sr=8-2&keywords=sony+wh1000xm2.
I've used the older version of this Plantronic and it was great until I moved onto other stuff. The newer model improved on a few things and is the cheaper option as well: https://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-BackBeat-PRO-Special-Cancelling/dp/B01MCRVPO6.
Both should clock in under your budget but I think the Sony would be the best bet as it is arguably the best wireless headphone out right now.

jaydunndidditI agree with you. I think the combo of Sony sound quality and NC beats the Bose QC series. I'v held off on buying the Sonys for a long while, and now that they have released the 1000xM3 (usb C and Google assistant added) I may have to give them a go. Tired of not having any good wireless headphones that also have noise cancelling...just using BT mmcx cable and a BT DAC/amp I picked up here a little while back.
The Bose aren't on my radar and probably won't be, just because their sound has never impressed me. Maybe they've gotten better? Either way, I'm now trying to decide between the Senn PXC 550 and the new Sony 1000x mk3... Hmmm.
