Number 2....: Get a new amp that suits your taste, and burn the Elex properly ... ( took 1 week for mine ).

CollectiveMindThanks, leaning towards that option. I believe that I haven’t been able to experience Elex’s true potential. FWIW, I also have HD58X and the Crack, which is just awesome but the Crack, ahem, cracks all the time due to shitty soldering. What amp do you use/suggest with Elex?

CollectiveMindOh yes, I remember seeing your post on this. It's quite the beautiful setup that I fear that I could not replicate. Especially the Minion overseeing the operation ;)

ManbearKeep the Elex, it reaches dynamic highs that a HD6xx cannot reach. If you have a chilled out headphone like the HD6xx lying around anyway, they can complement each other too to suit your mood (eg active listening Vs background music)
I have paired the Elex with a AudioGD R2R-11 single ended Amp/DAC unit, it's awesome.
Recent upgrade: fully balanced AudioGD R2R-R1 and NFB1-AMP. Elex on balanced connection with this combo is amazing.

myrna_breanbluetooth, No clue, sorry, the amps are conected to a dac and in the dac on a RCA input a Stereo RCA to a Mini stereo Cable and that conected to whatever device comes to use the rig, ... usually a Flac loaded phone using Neutron. In case i do want to play files via network , a device conected via ethernet or wifi, to a plex server.
This config has proven to be, very easy to use to any member of my family :). my 2 cents...

kjlingVery nice. I think I’ll follow your suggestions. I most definitely like the Elex and will keep them in hopes that i can find a nice amp pairing. I see a lot more people using AudioGD gear, which is intriguing to say the least. So you email a guy in China, they send a quote and they ship it over? (assuming that you live in the US)

ManbearSorry, not in the USA :) There is a local shop that carries AudioGD gear here in KL, Malaysia. I get the gear through them as I don't want the hassle of dealing with shipping/customs and would rather deal with the local guys in the event of any problems. The order process you mentioned sounds about right tho, sounds like what was stated on the website.

kjlingI just bought a R2R 11 on a whim and I could not be more excited. I hear good things. The purchase process is actually quite easy. Thank you for the suggestions! I also picked up a Bottlehead S.E.X. to take care of my tube craving.

ManbearNice, hope you enjoy it! I certainly loved my R2R-11, I still have it in fact and will pair it with a tube amp at some point as a R2R single ended tube stack to complement my new balanced AGD stack.
