Interest Check: Outdoors & Ultralight Sunglasses

search
Greetings everyone,
We want to know what sunglasses all of you are into, especially as they pertain to the Outdoors & Ultralight Communities. (We will probably do a separate interest check for Sunglasses in Men’s Accessories as those would be more fashion oriented.) When it comes to sunglasses here, we want to know what suits you best for your outdoor experiences, excursions, activities, and adventures. We already source a variety of brands, types, and styles, but are always looking to stay in tune with the interests of the community.
· What do you look for in a pair of sunglasses? · What kind of shape, features, or lenses do you prefer? · Are there particular brands you like?
Your suggestions and feedback are taken into account when we look for products to put on the site so tell us what you like, what you don’t like and any preferences you have in between.
Thanks!

Anything that is impact rated and has distortion-free rose-colored lenses. ❤️
I miss the old Suncloud rose lenses from the 1980s, or the old Serengeti rose lenses from the 90s-00s. Also the Serengeti and Vuarnet green lenses for use on water.
Personally I find nothing better than my local Cancer support organisations range of sunnies https://www.cancercouncilshop.org.au/category/sunglasses ... great range, meets all required standards, great price and profit supports a great cause
Having owned multiple pairs of Maui Jim, Costas, and Revo. When you put on the right your vision turns to 200k Extreme-HiDef.
The most important thing is durability of the frame and then of the lenses. Polarization is also important!
I'm looking for HD vision and glass lenses, unless there's something better. 1)Revo -- great frames and amazing lenses 2)Maui Jims -- poor frames, great lenses but lacking durability ... 6)Costas -- lenses are ok, frames are bulky
Most sunglasses are way overpriced, and there have been news exposes about the tremendous markup that manufacturers, or sellers of sunglasses actually make!
In many cases someone purchases super expensive sunglasses, and then takes them out hiking, hunting, or fishing, where they are quickly broken, scratched, misplaced in the woods, or lost overboard!
In many case they perform no better than inexpensive sunglasses!
People who spend time outdoors need a source of high quality sunglasses, that are durable, and which have a large selection of frames and polarized lens color combinations available, that will enhance the outdoor experience.
For example, when I am hiking through a dark forest, I want a pair of Yellow Amber, or Vermilion color lenses which block the blue light, and clarify my vision in low light conditions.
Conversely I might want polarized Dark Green, Blue, or Gray lenses with a mirror coating in very bright conditions like out in the desert, or on the water!
Oh, and they must not cost more than $30.00, and preferably more like $15.00 to $25.00!
I find that FlyingFisherman.com is one of the best sources for all types of sunglasses.

Costa Del Mar's. Can't say enough about how much I love their lenses and durability.

I could get behind a pair of these..

Three styles of sunglasses I look for: Aviator (Ray-Ban), wrap-around (Oakley), and glacier glasses (Julbo).
BNUS with Corning glass.
1) Revo- super light, outstanding optics, comfortable. I usually like half framed so my vision is less obscured 2) Maui Jim- lenses almost as good.
I’ll say it one more time.
1.)MAUI JIM

Much further down the list 2.)Costa Del Mar

I've never owned a pair but my coworker has been urging me to check them out. Never even heard of them until last week. He also swears by their lenses

The advocacy for the Maui Jim's is infectious. 👓
