I've been through multiple Astro variants and TB headsets over the years, I don't think you'll be extremely happy with either, long term.
Is $250 your total cap for everything? I can't really comment on the G6 itself but lets assume that's a pretty good option.
For ease of setup, minimal cabling, etc I'd recommend Senn PC37x + G6
For pure performance in a "competitive setting" I'd recommend AD900x +G6+Modmic.
After Infinity Ward fell apart I kind of lost interest in competitive console play (I never really gave Titan Fall the focus it likely deserved), but my favorite setup at the time was with the AT-AD700 with a custom mic attached (antlion was around, but the modmic was not an extremely popular option at the time, nor was it as good as the product they sell now) with a mixamp and DH enabled. It's a bit simpler on pc as I use a desk mic and whatever cans I have within reach, less cable management worry and dac/amp already on hand to power whatever I need. After the ps3/360 generation and the inclusion of TRRS on the controller I "downsized" to a Senn PC360 G4ME (this has been like 7 years now since I bought this headset) and even used it for PC play with a basic Fiio D5 and it still easily outperformed any Astro/TB combo I ever tried. I'd be using that today but I had some projects that required higher fidelity with my Mic setup and moved to a desk mic on a boom.

jwhoYea, I think the Game one and PC37x are pretty much the same thing, and with the current pc37x drop they'd ship on tuesday. I don't know which accessories they include, but the pc360 used to come with the y-adapter for controller/smartphone. https://en-us.sennheiser.com/pcv-05
I still use this (pc360+pcv-05) on console when I need comms, otherwise lately I've been using the 58x with no mic for simplicity (plenty of volume even with 150ohm impedance).

xformulaxYea narrowed it down to the Game Zero and GSP300. Have no idea if a USB soundcard would work or help much with competitive CoD.
Edit; Looked into it and saw the GAME ZERO are open acoustic which is better for hearing footsteps and overall gaming/audio experience.

These what you were talking about? Because a recent post below mine said they had problems saying the game audio was extremely low.

jwhono, the PC37x is here on massdrop (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-sennheiser-pc37x-gaming-headset) and ends really soon, It's a "modified" version of that 373D without usb dongle 7.1 processing. If you are getting the G6 you won't have any volume issues, but I'm not sure how the Game ONE / PC37x perform unamped straight from the ps4 controller. Every indication points to the Game ONE being the same as my pc360, just newer. Even warranty replacements have been switched to game one and they are advertised to have the same specs. I'd suspect if someone has sound/volume issues its more likely a defect/cable issue.
Also, the Game ZERO is the closed version, so unless you have a need for closed (noisy room for example, or sit on the couch next to someone who doesn't want to hear your game at all) I'd recommend choosing an open variant.

xformulaxOh damn, on Amazon it said it was open. Guess I'll take that out the cart. Astros went back to $250 so maybe getting the G6 and PC37x will be better. Haven't looked into the return policy yet so guess I'll just try my luck.

Know anything about these or should I just go ahead and get what you recommended?

jwhoThink I'm ordering PC37x and the G6. Does anyone know if the PCV 05 comes with the headset? Have 16 hours to order.

peyton-applegateYes, it has a detachable cable and they even sell a cable (or adapter) that will plug directly into your controller. Anything in this poll will work, I use the pcv-05, it's been a while but it was cheap on amazon. https://drop.com/vote/Best-option-of-Console-Cable-for-Massdrop-x-Sennheiser-PC37X-Gaming-Headset
