Fascinating… was hoping there’d be a discussion going. Are there really that many people here familiar with Leica’s recent entry to the instant market? And they honestly prefer to the Lomo instants? Wow. Wish some of you would chime in on why you selected the Leica. I’m still blasting out instant shots with a Polaroid Land Camera. It’s a big, boxy beast, but the image quality is unbeatable.
I've had several instant cameras over the years including Polaroid SX-70's, OneStep, 600, Spectra, both 100 & 360 Automatic Land (peel-a-part) cameras and more. They all were fun to use and in fact I still have most of them as well as film from The Impossiable Project in cold storage. Several years ago I bought a used Polaroid Pogo Printer that could print images sent from a Jailborken iPhone or iPod Touch - it was a game changer for me. I used that setup for years but eventually switched to the Fuji Instax Mini 25 instant camera. The Fuji line of instant cameras were fun to use but I really missed shooting, editing, and printing with my iPhone. There were a few new printers released overthe next few years that could print from a mobile device but when Fuji released the Instax Share SP-2 Smartphone Printer I knew I had to get it. The printer never fails, fits perfectly in my backpack, has good battery life, the printing app is simple to use, film 2-packs are always on sale, and the prints look great! People love when I give them a print from my Instax Share SP-2, It's suddenly becomes the most precious thing ever. A special moment preserved on a little instant print in the palm of their hand……awesome!
NOTE: I know, it's a printer, not a camera……but it's so cool!
