Here is a review from Mike W on Amazon of this same product: "High quality function, build and appearance. Will weight and volume work for your situation? 4/5 stars First, I did receive this canteen free for the purpose of testing and review. While I recognize that a review of a free product is fundamentally different from that of a product for which one has paid, such a review can be useful when the process is respected and I've certainly tried to do so here. If you have questions, feel free to post them in the comments section and I'll do my best tow answer based on my own experience with the canteen. What you're getting with this order: (1) Stainless Steel Canteen with neoprene sleeve/carry strap What is this thing and why might I want it?: This is a 3/4 quart canteen made from 304 grade stainless steel with an 18/8 composition, meaning it contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel which give the canteen resistance to corrosion. The canteen is built in the traditional military shape described as "kettle" in the product description and which I call one quart military (note: it does not hold one quart). This canteen features a heavy duty lid that doubles as a cup and also has an embedded compass, a heavy duty stopper, double walled, vacuum sealed construction for temperature regulation, and a removable base with fold out handle which can be used for cooking. Also included is camouflage pattern neoprene sleeve with attached nylon webbing carry strap. Does it work?: Yes. I've tested this canteen thoroughly and have the following observations to share: Build: The heavy duty 304 stainless steel body is very sturdy, and each of the parts are also well built and durable. The lid/cup is heavy plastic, the stopper is plastic with rubber seal, and the removable base is also 304 stainless steel. Each of these parts fits nicely and is removed and replaced without difficulty. Function: The stopper forms an excellent seal and there is no leakage of water. The capacity is listed at 24 ounces, but is slightly higher by my testing at about 26.5 oz. The lid/cup threads easily and tightly, there is no wobble or rattle during hiking. The compass embedded in the lid works properly. The base has a handle that folds up along the side of the canteen and is easily folded down to allow for separation of base from body. Once removed, the base has a maximum capacity of about 18 oz. Sleeve/carry strap: The camouflage neoprene sleeve is as pictured in the product description. It fits tightly and has a zipper closure that facilitates getting the sleeve on and off. The carry strap is nylon webbing and is easily adjustable. Temperature regulation: The double walled construction does keep water cool for long periods. I did not test with any hot substance but would expect the same result. Anything else of note?: -Weight of the canteen filled with water is 3.6 pounds. Any negatives?: -The cost of the heavy duty construction is weight. As mentioned the canteen, when full is more than 3 1/2 pounds and so this will be too heavy for hikers and backpackers who look to cut weight. -While this is done in the style of a military "one quart canteen", its capacity is actually 3/4 quart. Bottom line: This is a high quality canteen that is both well made and durable. It is attractive in appearance and functions as advertised, having the added features of cup, pot with handle, and compass. While function, build and appearance are all 5 star quality, I'm deducting one star based on its 24 ounce capacity combined with its 3.6 pound weight. If those numbers work for your needs, the Svt-750 is a high quality option worth your consideration. Enjoy!"
