I have a Space-pilot-pro at work. It is beyond doubt the WORST supported product i have ever encountered. The 6 axis control in SOME CAD apps is great (Solidworks particualrly) . Just the 3D mouse makes sense i'd say but do not be fooled into thinking the big palm rest and the "function buttons" are going to add anything, in reality they get in the way.
Solidworks and AutoCAD are decent, 3DSMax 2014 is ok, 2015 is USELESS with the buggiest drivers i have seen, I REALLY wanted to use it with ZBrush but neither 3D Connexxion or Pixologic will budge and create drivers for it.....that's right it flat out DOES NOT WORK WITH ZBRUSH.
This might be a ranty but i'm actually saying go for the mouse (i voted wired, wireless is a pain). But don't bother with the bigger button clad versions they are a waste of money.
