Timmy_boy19 oz, probably the heaviest one in the list. It is really too heavy for extended backpacking. I own the hummingbird single plus which is 12 oz lighter than the ENO. The ENO is probably best for car camping. I doubt they will offer much of a discount on a drop, either.

Timmy_boyWow I would never had thought to say the double was too heavy for backpacking I mean thats what its built for. I carry mine all the time with me for Backpacking its practically is part of my gear.

DrThrobAwesome that you use such a lightweight hammock. Curious about your setup... do you use a bugnet or any add-ons?
19oz may not be ultralight, but that's a decent weight for a shelter. My standard use hammock weighs more than that because I personally prefer a heavier fabric, wider and longer hammock, bells and whistles (such as bug net, zips, etc).
The standard Hennessey Asym which got me into hammock camping so many years ago is 37oz minus the rainfly and stuff sack.

uberI use a custom made asymmetric tarp that weighs about 8-9 oz, an underquilt for really cold weather. I do have a bug net but have not really had a chance to use it as we camp in the fall and spring and bugs aren't as bad. With an ultralight top quilt and the underquilt or a hammock warmer you can actually get away with a face net only if it gets too bad, but spraying your hammock and tarp with permethrin will keep most things away.

uberAnd 19 oz is okay for a shelter, assuming there is no wind, or rain, or it gets colder. Then that hammock becomes a large, cold, water Basket. I am actually not even considered an ultralight backpacker. My base weight for a four day trip is about 16-17 lbs. I'd need to shave another 6-7 lbs off to be considered ultralight. The idea is that shaving ounces where you can becomes pounds off your pack and a more enjoyable hike. Try it. There is a $35 hammock on Arrowhead Equipment's website that is 11 feet long and weighs 8 oz. that is roomier and far lighter than the ENO. And there are better, lighter straps than their Atlas straps, too. Enjoy!

DrThrobThanks for sharing! I have lightened up a lot (cuben etc where possible) and definitely makes a difference but still hang unto to some heavier items due to perceived comfort or durability or having one. 4season use (eg pack, Nalgene). I'm probably 30lbs base.

ejmbostonJust because something is "made for" backpacking doesnt mean that there aren't things that do that task better. And lighter.

ejmbostonIf the day ever comes and you sleep in a top quality hammock you will retire your ENO. They are good but it's like apples to oranges honestly.
