Fun fact: The current Apogee Duet for iOS model (the update of the venerable Duet 2) can be used with the Duet Protools drivers (free download from Apogee, no ProTools required) and a minor registry hack on x64 bit Windows systems (7, 8, or 10, but x64 *only*, afaik). There's a loss of some interface control from the Duet side (the adjustments have to be done on the driver side) but if you've got a 2nd monitor it doesn't interfere with the session. Borrow one from a friend to test with your system first (why shell out $600 and then find out your system is an uncooperative special snowflake if you don't have to?).
The alternative is to just pick up a decent used MBP off the bay for $350 and use all the functionality of the Duet, but if you're a PC person, there is light at the end of the Duet for iOS tunnel.
I've got extensive experience with the Duet2/Duet for iOS and whether you're recording, monitoring a mixdown, or just listening, it's a delight to use. Apogee got it right!
