DjdanielThey're a good starting point for anyone who has never experienced a better set of headphones, and particularly good as a recommendation to get someone away from buying Beats.
What I hate is that there are people that'll crap on anything whether it's the M50x or the 650 because they get a little popular, and have such a drive to put people down for liking or recommending something that's a good toe in the water into a world of products that's extremely subjective and very difficult to research and get into in the first place. At ~$140 on Amazon with a free $50 amp to boot, it's hard not to recommend the M50x for people who aren't ready to open their wallets more yet and probably have no idea what they're even looking for in the long run. I don't see anyone claiming they're some sort of end-all-be-all, just a good example of a quality entry level set at a very good price to performance ratio.

Lurr17See as a moderate I could understand that. I could also understand if some fans have previous disposition to the orginal m50s, because i have not tried them. My experience with the m50x was they are not worth the money from the topic of budget. headphones id rather invest in like sennheiser and even an hd 201 sounds clearer and provides more comfort to me than the m50x did. Therefore I do not understand the hype in the slightest.

DjdanielIf you tune their v shaped signature with an equalizer, they are actually pretty good and detailed, otherwise the highs are too harsh. Though, comfort is an issue with them for people with bigger ears.

SpaceBorkTotally agree, I purchased m50x first and I was somewhat happy. Then got an opportunity to try m40x, it ended up selling my m50x and buy m40x instead. I'm not saying that m50x was crap, not at all but m40x give you more balance and less punch. It suits better to music genre I listen.

Lurr17It's because they are what Beats are. A distorted mess. The M40X is much cheaper and much better. Let's help people be audiophiles. Or just let them get whatever they think will make them happy.

Lurr17No is not the hd 6xx or 650 should not even be compare that over shilled garabage. Id rather take mono retros vmod lp or a logitech surround sound and be content to those for under 100$ compared to the m50x are cheaply made, bad sounding headphones.. They will never live up to the hype and are better off being avoided.
