You don't need surround sound headphones. Two ears, you hear stereo. Positional audio works off of hearing full range of sound in one ear and the reverberation off of another object or the sound around the other ear traveling through the air. Plug up one ear, snap around the other ear... You can't ear if it's higher, lower, front or back. People that are def in one ear will often think everything is on the one side they can hear.
