I absolutely did not get along with the FA nib on the Pilot Custom 912, and my frustration was so great that I ultimately ripped the nib out from the section with my fingers and then snapped the metal to destroy it. I'm reluctant to spend any more money on Pilot 'flex' nibs to see if my experience was unusual and an anomaly, although I did buy a Namiki Falcon SF nib (from Amazon, which eventually refunded my purchase in full for other reasons than 'performance') which is sorta OK, now that I have revised my expectations down and there's a lower bar. All the same, I'd be more prepared to give an Aurora 88 than a Pilot or a Namiki a chance with my next foray.

Why did you not get along with the FA nib?
I have the Pilot customs heritage 912 with FA nib and the Aurora 88 with flex nib and they are pretty similar in flex. Both are wonderful writers but not to the level of a vintage flex. The biggest difference between the two is that the feed on the pilot can have a difficult time in keeping up with the ink demands of the FA nib. The Aurora was perfect out of the box and is a pleasure to write with.
The Aurora 88 will only have 188 of each color, and the first color sold out in pre-order -- so I suspect we'll have a hard time getting a group-buy unless Aurora is willing to work with MassDrop directly.
Also: The Pen Addict review was kinda disappointed with the flex: https://www.penaddict.com/blog/2017/3/15/the-aurora-88-70th-anniversary-le-fountain-pen-with-flexible-nib-a-review IIRC, in the podcast they said Pilot's FA was flexier.
That said, it is a pretty piston-filler pen with one of the flexiest nibs currently made. And is noticeably cheaper than the Wahl-Eversharp Decoband, much as I really want a giant pen like that.
