At a lower level, the HD630VBs are quite nice.
Very interesting how much love the HD800/s is getting :) Haven't heard these yet, nor the HD820, Actually most of these! :) I do want to hear the Aeon Flow Open as well as the HD8xx's. The Utopia is amazemoid - I instantly loved it. I do have the HD650's and prior to these HD580's i think.
I would love to see the Fidelio, I can't find them in Canada for a decent price.
I have had the HD800 for a number of years now. The highs are not “harsh”. This is a pure reference headphone. If you listen to jazz, classical, instrumental with high res FLAC files thsee cans cannot be beat imo. On the flip side I would not suggest these if you listen to mostly rock, etc.
The HD6XX happened because of the release of the new model, I don't think there will be a 800S at half the price or less anytime in the foreseeable future.

I can't agree with you more, but I do hope that there will be a surprise and slap my face real hard. haha

Any abnormally large discount on the 800S would be nice even if the percent off isn't as big as the 6XX's discount. I want to see what they can do.
800s... Do IT!!
What, no one added any of the "superb" Beats cans?
HAHAHAHA. I'm joking, of course.
My understanding of the 2 is a tuning different and a ring on the driver of the HD800s that dampens the highs. I believe the drivers are the same between the HD800 and the HD800s. I do not own a pair of either so I can not confirm.

Yeah, but I haven't heard people complain about the 600s... People have made diy mods for the 800 to fix that high harshness.

True, the 800 was just super-harsh levels of Studio Monitor-Esque Reproduction Perfection.
The 600's are still warm compared to the 800 or 700.
With the launch newer hd 800s which is the rectified or tuned up version of the hd 800, the value of the hd 800 has significantly depreciated but we dont mind paying $500 for it, do we?? Drop it within the $500 dollar price range and we'll grab a dozen !!!

Yep, add my name to that list!
They've dropped the 650 & 700 multiple times so now its time for the hd 800, i've been madly waiting for the 800's to drop
