I love the SM9, but I don't know if I'd buy them for my studio. I'm leaning more and more towards Dynaudio BM15a's. I currently use the Audience 72se and am more than happy since my mixes sound exactly like they should, however the PSI 25-M that my friend has are insane. Just so much more information, it's amazing.
Hi - just my two cents - I have the BM15A's and love 'em for tracking but personally I find that the Unity Audio Rock MKII's work better for mixing - very high level of clarity really helps me keep the mix and master clean. Expensive, but cheaper than the PSI's and SM9's (have not tried either of those, but have read that on average people seem to prefer the PSI's). Bass on the MKII's goes pretty low too - but does not have the impact of the BM15A's. Also great (even better than the MKII's in my opinion) are the more expensive Neumann KH310A - some people love them, a few don't - they have amazing range, space, and clarity. I mastered once on the BM15A's, then played result through the KH310A's and found TONS of errors. The Neumann's transformed the master.
