I've been using Apple Music since the era of iTunes, back when we purchased and downloaded songs and play them offline. But recently Apple Music keeps asking me to buy songs I've purchased before. I have no choice but to download them with an Apple Music Converter.
I switched from Tidal to Spotify simply because I get the feeling that Tidal is leaning too much towards Rap music. I have one piece of advice for those who think Tidal is pricy and use a Tidal Music Converter to download high quality music within the trial period. Then add the downloaded music to the Spotify app for offline playback.
I have a Spotify Family plan because wife and kids prefer the wider selection. I also have a Deezer premium account because of FLAC support (and relatively easy to download whole collections via tamper monkey). Their selection and recommendation algorithm isn't particularly good so if you enjoy "discovery" of new music you may be disappointed. I tried Tidal HQ but as others have expressed here, I got fed up of the politically charged agenda pushing as well as being a bit full of themselves.
Qobuz is expensive but downloading and listening to Hi-Rez music with a good quality player!
After playing bass in a band and working 37 years in broadcasting, my ears cannot distinguish between TIDAL and Spotify Premium on the "extreme" setting. Spotify's playlist is immense. I have every album I ever bought, borrowed or heard, discovering new artists every day. I've tried very hard with Deezer and TIDAL, but need to settle for my well-used ears' limits. So, it's Spotify Premium "extreme" setting with my three favorite headphones.
For the record I have tried:
Groove, Apple Music, Google Play Music, Pandora and with the exception of Apple they don't sound as good to me as Spotify Premium. Also none of them have good music discovery and like Tidal they all seem to be geared towards hip hop and pop music listeners.
Discover Weekly on Spotify Premium is why I stay with them.... Also Today's free trial does not seem free...
I used a free month of tidal and then got the"$20". They charged me $25. Tidal does have higher bit and I could hear it, but not enough for the price difference. I get spotify premium for $10 and I find it very user friendly. They do have hi-res. To find it, I type in things like Hi-res, audiophile etc. I would use Tidal if it was under $15. I think they will have to come down. They also need to improve and change alot and I dont like Jay-z . I think he might be one of the owners. He needs to leave politics out of the music. It's rumored that spotify is going to offer a hi bit. As long as its not over $15, I'll get it. Streaming is really a good tool for musicians.
Why would anyone use anything other than Google play music? You get YouTube Red and YouTube music for free, It has five million more songs. You can pay 14.99 and get up to 6 friends or family and they also get access to all the same services. I guess if you had YouTube Red you would already have Google play music but you still wouldn't need Spotify or anything else.

If you're an "audiophile" I'm not sure steaming is the way to go.
No idea.
Spotify premium vs Tidal Hi-Fi big difference. Too broke to use Tidal HiFi, but it was fantastic when I did get a 'free' trial... The free trial made me pay. Meanwhile, I thought I canceled my Spotify premium, did not, over drafted checking. R.I.P. finances.
Groove Music? People actually use that? Isn't that something you get rid of along with a bunch more Microsoft bloatware right after installing Windows?
I would never engage in Tidal, even if it was free.
It's a shitty company that I refuse to support.
Not sorry

Agreed. It does sound better, they do stream bigger files, the celeb endorsements are a marketing thing but, the 'free' trial I got, was not free. Left a sour taste in my mouth.

I think artists who refuse to release on certain platforms come off as assholes. I've liked Jay-Z for many years, but the fact that he has deprived me of his music has forced me to pirate and/or not listen to his stuff.
The sad part about this is that basically all you get is remastered albums (ref: loudness war)... I think I'd rather have Tidal, than Spotify (which is also full of many year old bugs and problems and lack essential features like ctrl + f, audio output setting and bit-perfect audio driver support).
I've been a Spotify user since the start of the service, and I've been dissatisfied with it for a long time. But... what other alternative do I have? As far as my testing goes, Tidal seems better than Spotify, but I need to try Tidal as a daily driver before I can conclude anything...

Tidal and Apple is the only ones from the bunch (afaik) that support lossless formats.

Bruh apple doesn't do lossless formats. Spotify has a higher bit rate
I would never use or pay for any of these services...

Why?
I would pay for Tidal premium if it was $10/month

Unfortunately it does not apply to Canada... I still have a student card though.

Agreed. I would easily jump over to Tidal if the price was cheaper.
