I wonder how much the order of the items on these polls effects the outcome. I bet that many people just don’t bother scrolling down and just use their three votes early. Too many votes for climbing shoes, which as others have mentioned, is a tricky beast. Curious to see how this shakes out but a bit disappointed with the results nonetheless.
Keep it gear focused. Buy your shoes from a local store after you try them on, then get then re-soled. Don't buy them online unless you want a bad fit or have had the shoe before.
Shoes #1? LAME. Too much of a PITA buying climbing shoes on line. This should be about deals on gear and ropes.
+1 on shoes comments. Way too specific to individual person, much rather see gear for sport/trad that adds up quick.

Agreed
Great idea for a drop ! Definitely climbing gear like set of cams or ropes.
Im going to echo what others are saying in that items like climbing shoes / harness are far too specific to the individual for purchase online. The only exception being if you are re-buying the same exact item due to wear or have previously done a thorough test fit.
I would love to see climbing gear which are not so specific to the individual and do need to be purchased / replaced periodically.
IE: rope, crash pads, quick draws, climbing specific apparel / accessories
Is there a good reason why people aren't voting on ice tools and axes, and climbing gear? You can find deals on shoes anywhere. Go for the good stuff.
I agree with some of the comments here, climbing shoes are pointless unless you are going to carry 10+ styles. Peoples feed are too different. This and each brand and run of a shoe fits differently ie I am size 10 on Pink Anzi 5.10s and 9 1/3 for scarper vapours.
Since size/fit is so important with shoes, I'd rather see gear on here.
It would be super-great to have climbing stuff here!
Way too goo massdrop loving it
Keep it climbing specific. The 'Outdoors' community can handle hiking gear. ...unless, of course, it's *ultralight* hiking gear. sheesh.
I think men's and women's MID hiking boots, and shoes will be a big seller. I don't know about the number of people you need to gain discounts, but if you get a wider hiking, climbing audience you may be able to enhance your selection and sales volume. Do not go for the lower quality footwear for summer or winter shoes/boots as it is unlikely that the target audience you are looking for will join and purchase.

If you are going to have a climbing category, don't mix in hiking junk. Keep it climbing gear. Approach shoes would be good.
