I'm a Canon loyalist. Simply because I've used their cameras going back to my earliest point and shoot photos. I have had other cameras from Sony, Fuji and Vivitar. But the Canon's just seemed better thought out. Even on a 4 megapixel point and shoot. Then there is the Canon glass. Some of the Canon lenses are just this extra notch better than other lenses. Not in a way that shows up on DX0 scores. Rather in how they look. My plain old 85mm f1.8 ultrasonic has this beautiful look to the bokeh, and the overall color and contrast of images is just amazing for a $350 lens. When you step up to the L series the depth of imaging quality is really good, but the way that those lenses make faces look is amazing. Then there is the whole color thing. Sony undoubtedly has more dynamic range and better noise performance. But Canon just gets the colors right, even if you have to watch those highlights and shadows. I know a few photogs that jumped on the Sony bandwagon after seeing the low light performance, but came right back to Canon.
That all said, I think there is a Sony A7 in my future. I largely go for black and white. And when I do photos in color, I prefer more muted tones. The ability to work without a flash is really important to me. I'm just nervous about how AF will work with a Metabones adapter to my Canon lenses.
