Given that we know how good the Filco Convertible 2 is, and given that the Varmilo seems to be the big vote-getter, would be nice if both end up in a drop! I too would like the Filco. I guess we'll see...
Would've been great if it supported wired mode. Until then, Filco Convertible 2!!! Looks like it's the only one around that supports switching between wired AND Bluetooth.
I've had a Filco Convertible 2 with Cherry MX Blues for the better part of a year now (typing on it now), and I have to say, it's rock solid. I had been looking for something for its exact specs for years, and when it was finally invented it did not disappoint.
Takes virtually any MX keycaps you want to throw on it. Full-sized mechanicals aren't in style right now, but I use the tenkey like it's going *out* of style — it works great. You can hot-swap between four devices and a wired connection (which works great for me because I include my phone and iPad in my work and home battlestations), and the battery only needs recharged about twice a year. Twice. A. Year. This thing is amazing.
I would LOVE one of the Varmilos. Please drop. :)
EDIT: Bummer that they appear not to make it anymore. I need more bluetooth in my life. I have the Minila AIR and I love it. The Filco would be a fantastic drop too.
Just wanted to tell everyone that I recently spent a long period of time contacting various taobao resellers. After a lot of google translate, I came to the conclusion that literally none of them had the Vb660M in stock.
Interestingly, some sellers claimed that a version 2 of this keyboard is coming out later this year. The sellers I talked to didn't know any details, other than that it would have the same layout as before.
A request for if/when this is negotiated for a drop: Please see if Varmilo can do a broad range of switches for Massdrop to offer as options - preferably including some less-often offered types, such as MX Green, or even MX White. In MX Green this is an instabuy for me. Thanks!
From what I've heard, the VB660M is definitely discontinued. A family member of mine went to the Varmilo distribution centers in Shenzhen today and they confirmed that they are no longer producing any more VB660M due to bluetooth connectivity issues. They did mention that a VB87M will be released in the near future, although no date was mentioned.
Thanks for the update. If I hear anything different I'll post it here, but for now that seems pretty conclusive. Bummer. I'll keep my ears open for anything involving the VB87M in the meantime
