esyphelonSwitzerland has some very strict rules regarding knifes in general, daggers, switchblades, assisted... all banned, you even can go to jail just for importint them.
Weapons law is similar but not as restricted, you basically can buy any small arms weapon as long as you: 1) have a weapon ownship license (you need to apply for that one, allows up to 5 guns to be owned) 2) the gun is semi auto ONLY 3) you carry your gun only in a propperly marked case/bag and only if you have a reason (e.g. going to the shooting range.
Its pretty funny that the US has one of the most open weapon laws regarding guns and blades, but on the other hand has the most restrictive on what you can carry on your plane. In the EU a swiss pocket knife mostly gets by on the check in control... but imagining myself taking one to the us.. ill shure see several guns pointed at me instantly and will spend a night in a cosy interogation cell at the airport... xD

AxonteerFirearm and cold weapon laws vary greatly from state to state. What you described in Switzerland sounds very similar to (if not way better then) California, New York and Illinois LOL
Regarding carrying stuff of the plane (and obviously TSA)...I will just leave this here...

LxJLthrI thought in the Us everybody and their mother carries guns and fires them in the backyard at their own leasure? ... guess i need to learn some things :D
Yea in reagards to bombs on planes... if someone really wants to do something, they can. Easiest way would probably be to buy an old IGLA launcher and shoot the plane down during takeoff.
Im fine with our law in switzerland regarding firearms, but back when i was shooting with my dads AR and Pistol, i was more for accuracy anyway, and you dont get that on full auto lol.
But i guess knife laws are always a bit strange. My old Boss traveled across the world, his swiss pocked knife always with him, never a problem, at max they checked the blade lengh.. and once he went to germany with me and the lady at the scanner didnt wanted to let him pass with it first :S
