Sorry everyone. The margins on video cards are too slim for us to manage any kind of meaningful discount. The prices at places like Newegg are already about as low as it gets, but thanks for voting. Cheers
Why did everyone vote Strix? G1 gaming has the better GPU by far, and better cooling. VRAM issue aside, Gigabyte made the best non reference card this go round
There's no "fix." It is working as intended. Even with that issue, the 970 is still the price/performance king at the moment. So yeah, in the most VRAM intensive moments where more than 3.5gb of VRAM are needed, the 970 may be experience a 1-3% drop in performance. Still very much worth it.
While true, we can't expect every consumer to be aware of it's unintended limits and may end up buying it under false pretenses. Until a solution is found (firmware update, recall, etc.) it would make more sense to protect the rest of the community by avoiding that specific model for the time being, don't you think?
