What, no Astro A40 with Mix Amp Pro? I have a set and they are the best headphones I've ever used.
It's better to buy some nice headphones, and a separate microphone, but hey. That's just me.

I've actually come to this conclusion myself, and have since I started this poll landed on a pair of Phillips Fidelio x1/00. I plan on pairing it with a modmic :-)
Although I must say, the Audio Technicas in this poll are excellent. I was actually planning to get a pair of ATH-ADG1's until I discovered the x1's are on a 50% off sale in a local store near me!
Since this is a gaming headset, I recommend a closed-back design, unless you want people in the same or next room to hear all of the explosions, etc.

An open-back design is always best for gaming. This is because an open-back design allows for air to run though the cups, making sure your ears won't sweat for long gaming sessions. More importantly, an open-back design provides a much more open and large soundstage than closed-back design, which is important to hear all the details, plus it gives better positional audio. A closed-back design is better for one scenario only; if you're gaming with friends at a LAN party etc.
