I'm aiming to buy a Maxpedition Falcon-II soon if this succeeds or not. It's the perfect size for a travel day pack, among other uses. Spot for a laptop, hydration bladder, organizer, and other random pockets in a compact pack. Then I can use those D-ring attachment points on the straps to snap it to the front of my main pack when it's time to move out.

ZUUL42I have a Maxpedition Falcon-ii. It's a nice bag with all the Molle I could want, a hydration bladder pocket, and an OK assortment of pockets. The colors they have are really ugly though and the fabric of the bag itself is really stiff though, so I got it in black. At around ~$130 it's definitely a lot more affordable than the TAD bag. I wish someone would make a similar backpack with waxed canvas.
I work for local gov't so in the event of a disaster, we're required to become aid workers. I pack for the possibility that I might not go home for a while.
So in addition to my laptop, power supply, notepad, and pen. I also carry:
* A trauma kit for active shooter scenarios * Empty hydration bladder + Aquamira drops * USB Battery * Oppo HA-2 Headphone Amp * AudioTechnica ATH-M50x * Double magazine pouch for a 16oz water bottle * Clif Bars and Gel shots to munch on * Titanium Spork * Prometheus Beta-QRv2 Nichia 219b flashlight * Yaesu IC-T70A w/ External Antenna + Headset + AA Battery Adapter ***note*** the radio is important here, I've got local HAM repeaters programmed in that have autopatch which allows me to make calls on a land line through my handheld transceiver. This is important in power outage situations where local cellular access points go to low power mode and reduce the amount of incoming and outgoing connections they make.
