There's nothing very fancy about these. They're solid black with front facing shine through. The caps are finished with a smooth feel. They match the black face-plate of the CSTM80 very well... which is why I changed it, too much black for me. Black is a pretty universal pairing color, so many of the face-plates look good with them, and they'll mix 'n' match well with other similar keycaps. Looking forward to mixing these with the silver keys when they ship. I've run out of things to say about them. They're a clean simple design. and I didn't find any defects. I don't think I've found defects on any of Drop's branded keycap sets I have.
Paired these keycaps with some Holy Panda X Clears and a Keychron Q1 Max. Admittedly not my most-favorite setup ever, but outside of the high-dollar $500+ boutique builds, it's hard to beat.
The keycap profile itself seems to be almost identical to the Cherry profile, just slightly thinner keycaps overall. Drop's description seems to claim that it has the same profile as other keycaps in the Drop cylindrical family (DCX, DCD, etc.) but having never owned any of the other keycaps in this family I cannot confirm or deny. Either way, as a general fan of cherry-like cylindrical profiles, no complaints here.
The shine-through on these keycaps is easily the best shine-through on ANY keycaps I've ever purchased. I've had some decent shine-through keycaps before, but wow... these things are amazing. I had a Drop CTRL with the standard PBT keycaps—which I would consider to have an average amount of shine-through—sitting at my desk while I was waiting for these keycaps to arrive. These DCL keycaps blow those keycaps out of the water. It's incredible how nice these DCL keycaps look with LEDs under them.
My only real complaint is the lack of Colevrak keys or at least a Colevrak addon pack. I use Colemak for work and would have gladly picked up a second set of these for my work keyboard if a Colevrak was available. I'm not sure why Colevrak packs seem to be largely limited to MT3 kits, but as a cylindrical fan I'll admit it's rather frustrating.
