Hey everyone, I've talked with Signature Plastics and matt3o, and I'd like to announce a $2 per kit price drop on 10 of the kits. We're happy to secure this for the community and this is the only price drop that we will be able to offer for the remainder of the buy.

Hey Guys,
We spoke to the vendor today to get an update for the community and have some mixed news for you guys.
The short of it is that due to production constraints that came up after the vendor started manufacturing, the new estimated ship date for the final batch of orders has been moved to Mid-December. In order to minimize delays, they have doubled their efforts and have already started a second production shift. The vendor has let us know that they will be far enough along in the production process towards the tail end of October to lets us know when the first batch of orders will ship out. We will be keeping regular contact with them and will update the group as soon as we hear back.
For full transparency here is the long version.
We initially ran this drop with a limited quantity and removed it after the community asked for us to accommodate more members. Before expanding the drop, we, in conjunction with matt3o, consulted with the vendor and were assured that the extra orders would not affect the fulfillment date.
Throughout the production so far, we were provided regular updates and were given the all clear. However, we received news from the vendor that they were having doubts about being able to make the shipment time. In response, they have started a second shift to increase output to get these out as soon as possible. We have also asked them to prioritize the most popular selections to try and get as many orders fulfilled as soon as possible. We were told by them that towards the end of October they will have a better idea about the shipment date for the first batch.
We appreciate the group's understanding for this delay and want to assure the community that we are doing everything we can to make sure that orders are shipped as soon as possible. We will stay in contact with them and continue to explore any and all options to speed-up production. As always, we will provide transparent updates for the community to make sure you guys know the status of your orders.

They had a swarm of angry people when the drop closed, so they reopened it. They made a post on the GeekHack thread about if they opened it up it would cause delays. But the delay they said would be about two weeks (see the quote below).
TestaRossa says below: "they should've submitted a large portion of the already-placed orders to SP for manufacturing before the drop ends."
Which they did.
Here's the post from 2014-08-29 (or before):
"When we (matt3o and massdrop) launched this drop, Signature Plastics (SP) gave us production and shipping times for a couple thousand kits.
When the drop exceeded 2000 sets earlier this week, we spoke with SP and asked for an updated production and shipping estimate. Based on the new quantity, SP is estimating fulfillment times will increase by roughly 10-15 days.
In the interest of those participating, we closed the drop. However, based on the demand and limited nature of this drop, we have decided to re-open the drop at the request of matt3o.
In an effort to decrease production times, we’ve already asked SP to start producing keycap sets.
Shipping times will increase for all existing participants, but your fellow enthusiasts appreciate your patience."

I would completely agree with you if the limited amount had been displayed on the drop, however it wasn't. So I don't think that it is fair to have a go at them for re-opening it!

Great news! Our freight partner picked up 1000lb worth of keycaps in 28 separate boxes last Tuesday from Signature Plastics. Yes, 1000lb worth of keycaps. Let's just let that sink in for a bit.
Based on the shipping schedule we were given, we are expecting the shipment to arrive our warehouse by this Wednesday. Though, given the complexity and the sheer volume of the order, we are budgeting 48 hours worth of work for sortation and additional quality check before start shipping them out to everyone participating in the drop. The current target is to start shipping the orders out within the week.

We would like to apologize for the confusion with the previous update that was emailed out to the group. It looks like there was a glitch in our system and the update for the 1976 SA Keycap Set was sent out to the incorrect individuals.
The previous update still stands, and please expect an update from us on 4/26.

colorI just assumed everything in batch 1 would be delayed as soon as they said they were having problems. It just wouldn't make sense that they would do it in 2 shipments.

What about people with incomplete sets that get new keyboards which they want to use their sets for and need to add new parts from the set to it? Not everyone buys the entire set altogether because it costs so much.

We spoke to our contact earlier today and have updated news for you! The vendor will be sending over a batch of shipments next week. They are still producing these so finally tallies are unavailable, but we will let you guys know what to expect as soon as these arrive. We will keep you posted on this batch and the outstanding orders throughout the process.

I really don't mind waiting. I would 100% rather all the orders get sent out together, and wait another month. But if Mass Drop and SP are going to be doing batches then I truly believe that the first people who signed up should be sent their products before the second wave.

Okay everyone, the eagle has just landed. All four pallets of it.
I got our warehouse guys to take a few pictures, admittedly they are not the artistic type, so these aren't going to get us any Pulitzer Prize for Photography. But it does give you an idea of the volume we are dealing with.
We'll be working overtime to sort through the keycaps as quickly as possible. If we are lucky, we might be able to get a handful of the orders out today before the cut-off time. But realistically, we should get all the orders out by early next week.

IIRC a bunch of pages back matt3o said a drop once a year is possible
I totally understand that there are delays with the production of the RBG mods and that this is no fault of MD. However, if it is going to take much longer to get those manufactured, shipped, sorted and reshipped, I would like it if the part of my order that is available could be shipped. I am a pretty patient person, but knowing that the vast majority of my order is sitting there waiting for a non-essential add on is absolutely killing me.
So, I'm hoping for good news here....did SP get the sets shipped on 12/11 like they said they would?

At this point I've given up checking here at all. I turned off all notifications and I don't even want a notification of when they ship. I just want these to show up at my door in perfect condition.
I'm avoiding all SP buys after this...

I would like that to happen and pointed that out previously...but Massdrop have already said that it would most likely lead to shipping errors and the cost of shipping 2 separate things to the same customers as well. It seems like we jut have to wait it out until new years. I also thought that my shipment would arrive before Christmas since i'll be on vacation during Christmas until new years.
So I won't actually be seeing these caps till next year sadly.

Sorry about the late reply; just saw that you replied to my earlier comment.
After joining the ill-fated 'Wood Omega Style Headphone Stand' drop, Massdrop offered to either accept a full return and refund for the product, or to apply a 15$ credit to my account. The other order I was referring to was a seriously delayed order for the Aune T1; although I can't remember what, if anything, Massdrop did about that. I think that in the case of the Aune it was more the distributor's fault than Massdrop's, and I was just happy to be receiving regular shipping updates.
