Reskinned KSC75 with mic
Not much here in the way of surprise. If you are familiar with the KSC75s or Porta-Pros then you have a good idea of what you are getting. I like the black colorway and the included microphone is handy, but be aware this means the cable is a TRRS and if that will have any impact on the source you are using.
If you get claustrophobic when you are uncomfortable, skip these. the clip on feels awful when your anxiety kicks in. it's pretty abstract to explain, but they sound so good. that I do recommend to friends and family.
I didn't find them super comfortable -- the clips were a bit hard on the ears. I was hoping to wear them while biking, since earbuds can block out important traffic sound, and helmets interfere with normal headphones -- but the way these wrap around the ear, they got pushed around by the helmet -- which made them even less comfortable.
They are good for the price. I personally don't really like the clip-on, but I use them with porta pros band (some alternative replacements work well too). Getting Yaxi pads for them does improve them even more.
It'll be down to personal preference, but personally I prefer the KSC75... As long as they're clipped onto a headband. Without the clamp force from the headband they're very bass light, the headband solves this. The headband + KSC75 combo is more neutral, while the KPH40 is a bit more V shaped with a heavier mid bass boost and less upper midrange presence.
These sound better than they have any right to for the price. I love them. I tell all my friends to get a pair. Everyone who I've lent them to has loved them as well. One of the best values in audio in my opinion.
This pair was for my son. I got a headphone band from Parts Express, and orange Yaxi pads. We then combined all the parts and I gave him a headphone that looks like Starlord's headphones from Guardian's of the Galaxy.
It has more bass than the originals, also the cable is way better with a mic. Still sparkling enough to be more detailed than the porta pro, but the porta pros are my daily drivers over these.

Incredible sounds quality, subpar build quality.
The audio quality is amazing, one of the best headphones I've ever owned, but after 7 months of use, the left audio channel stopped working. The plastic is extremely flimsy and the wire feels like it could be cut if you just strain it accidentally by forgetting them in your ears and standing up. The mic quality is ok, nothing to write about besides that it works, which is all I needed.
Would've given it 5 stars if this wasn't my second pair that stopped working only after a few months, the first one I had stopped working only after 3 months. And with both of them, the problem was a bad solder.
