“Esto Perpetua,” or “let it be forever,” is the state motto of Idaho—and it’s where this heavy duty EDC knife gets its name. Designed by Idaho-based knifemaker TJ Schwarz and made by Millit Knives, this American-made folder is built to take on anything Read More
U.S.A. made, perfect cross bar, locking action; Nitro V steel, and heavy-use build-quality... really, what more could you ask? All the fidget-factor, too! After mixed reviews, purchasing the Perpetua was almost an afterthought. Thanks, Drop, for making me an offer I couldn’t refuse! Proud to add this to the collection while I could. 😊
It was a little stiff out of the box, but with a minor pivot adjustment, works great! Not the first knife I've had to do this to. Won't be the last. Very sharp. Good ergos. Great Knife.
No fit or finish issues. Blade is centered and there is no blade rock.
figured the price drop, color and washers would make for a good sweaty pocket knife during the summer.
Really nice piece at a great price for an American made knife.
I love this knife. Very much so, I chose to buy a doner one. On my first, a few of the very thin body screw threads seem to have loosened or stripped out. Replacing the screws with very little tourqe, and adding blue thread lock seems to have fixed it. It seems a more reasonable thread could be fashioned from such wide midframe circles. I am by no means a knife expert, it just needs to feel good, and this absolutely does. Solid. Maybe I'll buy a third.
No quality issues with the example that I received. The pictures don't do it justice. For the price, it is in line with every other USA knife in the same price range. Came hair popping sharp but with my own edge, it will be even better. this is my first axis-style lock and it broke in very well. A minor flaw is that the blade can contact one of the pins if when being closed affecting the edge. A few sharpenings should make it a non-issue.
I have never used an Axis type locking mechanism before, so this was my introduction to them. It has a smooth action, grippy scales, cuts well and has a bit of the open/close fidget factor. It's not to heavy, and I don't mind beating it up a little more than some of the other knives I own. All in all, I'm very pleased with the purchase.
I’m going to give this a 5 star rating, even though it is not my favorite knife.
I got mine during the very first run, when the knife was first offered. So probably he first production run.
Quality-wise, I got a perfect one. My sample has none of the problems other folks seem to be experiencing. I feel quite fortunate in that.
When you get a good one, the fit and finish of the knife, the action of the Axis lock, etc. are as good as that of a genuine Benchmade Griptilian.
I have 5 Griptilians of various stripes, and the quality and feel of my sample is as good as any of them.
Having said that, I do find that the handle feels a bit thick and boxy. Despite some chamfering and ergonomic contouring, the handle has a blocky, boxy feel to it. At least to my hands. It makes maneuvering the knife in the hand and adjusting your grip feel somewhat clumsy.
The balance point of the knife also seems to be further back towards the handle than I like, and I feel this adds to the impression of a thick, slightly clumsy feeling handle.
Aesthetically, I find this blade profile kind of strange looking, with the tip looking too miniature compared to the big swooping belly of the blade. This has no bearing on the cutting ability of the knife, which is great, but visually it adds to the impression that the knife is somewhat handle-heavy.
As for the performance, it is a good performing knife. It’s sharp and cuts very well and does everything I would want an EDC knife to do well. Seems to keep a good edge, too.
I’d definitely recommend this knife at the $99 price point as long as you get a good one. I’m happy with mine, which I got at full price, but probably wouldn’t get a second one at full price.
