Gotten most of my R&K from Seitz... https://www.seitz-global.us/office/ink/bottled-ink/rohrer-klinger-ink/ $5.50 a bottle and free shipping over $25 if you don't mind waiting 5-10 days for them to arrive in the US.

I would check again, and continue to check every now and then. I had selected Goldgrun, Scabiosa, and Blau permanent. Though, I checked again, and it just so happens that I swapped around my selections for bottles #1-3. (It may be available under different numbered selections.) I ended up getting lucky and edited my selections to Verdigris, Scabiosa, and Goldgrun.
Edit: That, and a few people seem to have cancelled the drop because of the Seitz deals.

I wish I had canceled. This drop has been stupidly slow. I could have saved both time and money.

@JonasHeineman,
Thank you for investigating the possibility of revisiting this drop soon. I was lucky enough to see this drop when it was active. While I would not have been able to participate in it, directly, I was preparing one of my usual "overviews" to help others with their decision.
This drop was one of those opportunities that makes you look again and again to find the catch. The prices you were able to negotiate for these inks were astounding. Based on the little research I had done the lowest drop price was nearly "buy two get one free" when compared to some of the least expensive online retailers. Compared to the most other offers, the Massdrop difference was greater.
As you can tell, one should never underestimate the zealousness of those in the fountain pen community. Acquisition Disorders abound, especially for such great deals.
Congrats to those able to participate. To those not as lucky, I feel your pain. I tried a few samples (when just starting out). At the time I was underwhelmed but I was a complete noob. I had no idea what I was looking for and/or what was available.
The R&K iron gall inks are very popular and highly regarded. Although I'm disappointed this drop was cut short without warning, it has reminded me to add a few R&K inks to my next sample order, especially their iron gall inks.
While frustrating for some, I consider the omission of the "limited quantities" as an understandable mistake. Massdrop is still a very young company and what may have been sufficient last month may not satisfy demand today. As the company grows, I think we all benefit from discussions like this. That said, I have a few questions ...
@JonasHeineman, is there a chance more bottles could become available during the originally scheduled window for this drop? You've pulled off similar magic tricks in the past - what's the likelihood of doing so, again? If so, can this drop be "re-activated"?
Being an active member of Massdrop has enabled me to get great deals on items already on my "list". It would be great to have this drop return, so more can take advantage of these deals.
Okay, I'll step off my soapbox and let someone else have a chance to spout.
I hope this helps folks as we watch Massdrop go through its growing pains.
Cheers.

R&K is new to Massdrop, so I don't think you did anything wrong setting a 600 bottles cap on this drop. With the wonderful result of this drop I'm sure you'll be able to renegotiate the terms with the seller to get even better discounts! And if the current seller tries to milk the community due to the success of this drop, well, with these results I'm sure you'll have no issue finding a new one! Ok, I was just being a little sarcastic here, but there's one thing that got me worried: if R&K, which got the sixth position in your poll for new ink brands with 13 votes, went sold out for 600 bottles in such a short time, what might happen with a drop for Akkerman inks, who got first in the poll with 181 votes? Have you considered ordering a tanker or two of ink from Akkerman? :)

Great news group! The vendor has let us know that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse now. Based on the tracking provided these are scheduled to come in 7/1. Our warehouse team has been forwarded tracking info and will be standing by, ready to get these packed up and turned around as soon as they come in.
Sometimes shipments get delayed en route, not to worry as we will keep the group posted throughout the process and notify you all if anything causes delay.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 7/2 or sooner if something comes up.

rahathereYa I have received no update so far even from the support. It has been over 2 weeks now.
I personally vouch for this brand! In the EU it is particularly cheap so I bought a lot of these bottles. My top 3 inks of this brand are, in no particular order: - Salix: nice blue-black, it has some nice shading and it's waterproof. A wonderful everyday ink. - Sunflower aka Helianthus: one of the only two yellows I use. Easy on the eye and nicely saturated (so with a pretty low level of shading). - Grey Green aka Verdigris: the ink for those who grew tired of both black and blue-black inks for everyday writing. It's some kind of deep teal, so you might consider it a blue-black-green. Royal Blue (aka Konigsblau) and Cassia are other colors some of you might find particularly nice. Mind that R&K inks might tend to have medium to long drying time, so I wouldn't recommend them for left-handed or uses that cause your hand to slide on what you just wrote. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Until Massdrop changes the names directly in the "Join Now" section, here's the translation of all R&K inks: Cassia - Cassia Verdigris - Grey Green Leipziger Schwarz - Leipsican Black Magenta - Magenta Morinda - Morinda Alt Bordeaux - Old Bordeaux Alt Goldgrün - Old Golden Green Blau Permanent - Permanent Blue Fernambuk - Pernambuco Königsblau - Royal Blue Blue Mare - Sea Bluish Sepia - Sepia Solferino - Solferino Helianthus - Sunflower Verdura - Verdure Smaragdgrün - Viridian Green Salix - Salix (Iron Gall) Scabiosa - Scabiosa (Iron Gall)

AlexGkon tomoe river paper and rhodia paper R&K ink dries in 5-7 seconds if wet nib is used and around 2 seconds with dry nib. it's not long, especially comparing to noodler's and private reserve inks.
EreshkigalI was talking about R&K inks in general. I'm currently using Scabiosa on a EF Lamy pen, and I get similar results too. But with wider nibs, and with other colors from R&K, drying times weren't exceptionally good for my liking. I'm probably just more used to faster drying inks. Iroshizuku inks dry pretty fast on Rhodia (but they cause a lot of feathering if the nib is too wet), while Aurora doesn't feather at all, but wetter nibs cause it to dry (obviously) much slower. I admit, I'm a Fine nib guy, so my measurements of drying times aren't really that accurate in all conditions :)

Great price on some great ink -in for 6 bottles. Just a suggestion though - can you put the actual name of the ink color as it appears on the bottles/swab chart in the drop down boxes at the check out instead of approximate translations? It was difficult to be certain I was choosing the colors I wanted.

Jaco10017Yes! At first I thought the two colors I most wanted were sold out because I couldn't find them in the drop-downs, until I realized those names had been translated into English instead of the original names. Maybe they could be listed as Original Name (Translation)?

By the way if anyone is curious, this is a nib, feed and converter I had in a Neomosine Singularity inked with R&K Salix after being inked constantly with Salix for 7 months straight. No probles and rinsed pretty easily.

Anyone know the difference between these and let's say the Sailor jentle ink. i'm a novice when it comes to fountain pens, I'd pairing this with a Faber-Castell LOOM Fountain Pen (extra fine + fine ). I was receromended the Sailor jentle however it's almost 3/4 times as expensive as they also come in 50ml bottles and cost twice as much roughly. Not to mention this drop would work out pretty cheap as well . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Muzzi87I've been in the hobby for about 6 or 7 years now and I've used both Rohrer & Klingner and Sailor Jentle. Both are very safe to use in your fountain pens. I buy Jentle inks because some colors they offer can't be found in other brands; the same can be said for R&K. There's no reason to buy a more expensive ink if you can find a similar color at a cheaper price, unless there's a major difference in formulas (Noodler's bulletproof black won't be the same as, say, a washable black from a different brand). Really, it's all down to preference. Some people buy exclusively one brand,, some people distribute their collection over a variety of brands, some people buy one color by one brand and never stray from it.
@bonnielass's suggestion to buy samples from a distributor like Vanness or Goulet Pens is a great one, because you can figure out what you like with a small initial investment. Colors look different on your screen than when you actually get to use it: ink swatches tend to be made with something like a cotton swab that applies a liberal amount of ink, and with a finer nib like the one that you have, they might not be as true as you'd like them to be. If you're able to, you should definitely try a number of different colors from as many brands as you can, and narrow it down from there. If you only have a few pens and don't use them that much, you may not even want to buy a bottle unless it's a color you really like and use constantly; fine nibs by nature put less ink on the page, which means a bottle of ink will last you a very long time.
I'd be happy to help if you have any other questions. There are tons of brands out there and it can get confusing and tiresome to sort through all the information of where they're available, what properties they have, etc.

I have to say I was disappointed in how this change to the drop was handled. One of my inks wasn't available. I was asked by email on April 19th to choose between a new color (not interested), a partial refund and keep the other two inks, or full refund. I replied immediately, and chose the partial refund and to have the other two inks. Later the same day I got the same email again, so I wrote back and confirmed my choice. No communication from then until now, so assumed the drop with two bottles would arrive soon. Instead today, a month later, I get an email saying "sorry, since we didn't hear from you we've cancelled your order and will issue a refund". Poorly handled Massdrop, poorly handled. Of course the refund isn't showing yet, but what did I expect....
I'm coming to the conclusion that the small discount you might get from Massdrop isn't worth the hassle, disappointment and waiting on some orders.

WDP32They did the same thing to me! I sent an email back to them (after sending an email inquiring on options) asking for a substitution, and then after a a week or so they canceled all 6 bottles I ordered without bothering to ask a second time. Really poor support. Apparently their support system is broken because they could not even find my previous email to them after providing a bunch of information about it.

I have ordered pens and inks for Europe and Japan and never had an issue with customs even when cost was much higher than $100.

I just ordered from them, package arrived yesterday. Prices are great, they shipped promptly and the package was trackable, no customs issues to USA. However, rough handling in transit meant that two bottles arrived broken, one unsalvageable and the other still about half intact, usable when the ink was decanted into another bottle. I don't think the packaging was adequate for the long journey.

By far the slowest drop ever. I'm getting really annoyed. It would have only been a few dollars cheaper to buy them online a month ago and I'd have had them by now. Massdrop should send them express/overnight to make up for this delay. It's easy to blame it on the vendor, but it's just as much Massdrop's fault as anyone else's.

Every drop has a shipping date that's well after the end of the drop, probably to control expectations. What I'm frustrated about is I joined two drops after this one, one a week after and the other two weeks after. I already have one and the other had to be manufactured and is being held up in Chinese customs and at this rate it will still arrive before this ink. Only after the drop had ended and I had been charged did I see the link someone posted to buy this ink for less and I would have had it weeks ago. I wish I could have cancelled. Someone is seriously slacking if you are telling me I can have something manufactured in China, get it through customs, and still get it in two weeks less time than a vendor can get a large shipment of ink to MassDrop. They don't even have to prep the individual shipments. If it is an issue of capacity for the vendor, assuming they are also the manufacturer, then they should have limited the drop to an order they could fulfill in a reasonable time.
KeenerYour opinion, but one that is not reflected in the estimated ship date. Sucks when you commit to something, only to have a better offer come along, life can be harsh, If this drop doesn't ship by the expected date, you should be given the opportunity to pursue a refund. In the future, you may want to more carefully consider what you are spending your money on before you click confirm.
