When I received the Qudelix 5K, I had already modified a pair of Superlux HD-681 headphones. I previously soldered my own balanced connections to the drivers, providing multiple ways to connect and drive the headphones. I designed the mod to have a 3.5mm jack that sits up and out of the way. For that I chose a more durable braided cable end that would have to occasionally withstand bending 180 degrees to plug in an aux cord if my mmcx connections broke or I didn't want to have a cable dangling from both ear cups.
However, upon receiving the Qudelix 5K, I discovered a more convenient setup. By mounting the Qudelix on top of the headphones using a cable tie between the headband supports and clipping the Qudelix to it, I found a way to integrate it directly into the mod. This revelation prompted me to rethink the original wiring for the 3.5mm jack, making it compatible with a balanced input. This adjustment allowed me to use the qudelix to its fullest through the balanced connection without the need for the long mmcx cable I had added. I already broke one 2.5mm connector on a long cable by catching it on a bedpost so I was ecstatic that the qudelix was small and light enough for me to be able to easily implement it into my headphones as a practically permanent piece. I don't even use the headphones any other way anymore unless I want to show off all the mods I did, it's just that convenient.
Though it's tiny, it manages to power even high ohm headsets with amazing accuracy. It works great with the drop usb-c to usb-c and my Phillips shp-9600. Soon enough I'll be using the Akoustyx...
I have an external amplifier with no integrated DAC and I only have an xduo xa10 as a dac/amp can I use the xduo xa10 as a dac only with an external amplifier?
