The first-ever human to enter space, Russian pilot Yuri Gagarin, wore a Sturmanskie mechanical watch just like this one. Originally standard issue for air force pilots in 1949, these Sturmanskie watches maintained performance in the toughest conditions, even at zero gravity. Though this timepiece has been updated considerably—with a larger case and a commemorative caseback with Gagarin’s engraved image—it's still powered by the Poljot 2609 17-jewel manual movement, which is the same caliber as the iconic first generation. The numbered limited-edition titanium watch is made with a mineral crystal and leather strap and has a 42-hour power reserve.
