When it comes to audio gear, you never compromise on sound or aesthetics. For some cans that sport killer sound as well as killer looks, pop on the A-Audio Legacy Headphone, designed by a rising company making waves in the audiophile community Read More
What I don't understand is how these could have a "full Bass" experience when the Frequency response only goes down to 20 Hz (20 Hz - 20 kHz). So there is no way that these headphones could accurately reproduce the bass of today's modern music. I have seen headphones that go down to 5 Hz. I just wish I could remember which ones they were...lol
Can anyone recommend which headphones would be good for producing/referencing music?
Thanks :)
This is where manufacturer gamesmanship comes in. Can you really hear 5 hZ. I know it can be felt with a big subwoofer, but does it really matter on headphones?
DABTPAI myself can't hear 5hz, but I can certainly hear from 10-20Hz. It's not a huge impact, but it's very low and rumbly. It's not that most bass is under 20Hz, but if a headphone is marketed as bass-oriented in any way, it should at least be able to hit 10Hz.
For the Price and what it comes with it out plays everything but the HDJ-2000s from Pioneer. and they both have the same price which means for a DJ like me these arent for me. but the design seems to be the only reason that makes them look better
I bought these and the sound quality is amazing, the mids and lows are crystal clear, plus all the accessories and the premium feeling worth every penny, now I'm gonna buy the wireless version of the Legacy, the Icon and I will give these to my gf.
Linus shills again! I wonder how much they are paying poor Linus to sell these headphones. Are these headphones straight from the headphone rack at hot topic?
"Beats did something amazing when they set the bar with Beats by Dre. It really helped bring headphones into mainstream media and singlehandedly created the market that exists today."

tyler555I'd agree with that. What they pioneered may not have been good, but they did an amazing job at it. For every shake of the head we/audiophiles give Beats, people looking at it from the business end give a nod. They gave a major push to the idea that even non-enthusiasts should/could be spending more than $150 on headphones. Whether or not they got their money's worth wasn't Beats' problem :P
Eh... really? The only people I ever saw wearing Bose headphones were Upper-Middle-Class white people on airplanes. Then Beats came along, and I see everybody and their dog bopping down the street with them on their heads or around their necks. Bose has never been about the "cool" factor until Beats came along and created the market for "Headphones As Fashion"
FULL DISCLOSURE: My experience with these was on the noisy show floor at CES 2015. Their booth was somewhat 'sequestered' from the noise, but I feel it worth mentioning. Also, who knows who had come by these headphones previously, but given that the point of the booth was to sell me on them as quality headphones, I believe my experience to be a not-completely-inaccurate representation.
I was completely underwhelmed. Maybe it was the source audio, but on day 1 of CES (i.e. I don't think it was due to the headphones being blown from extended high-volume play) 2 or 3 different tracks played from their devices (straight out of iPad Air 2s) had significant distortion in female vocals and bassier bits, even at moderate (75%) volume. That was across two different pairs of headphones in all modes (Bassy, ANC, and passive).
The construction of the headphones was OK at best. Metal and leather - yes, but it just felt cheap in my hands, and the 'detail' (logo, faux-industrial brackets on the cups) was all plastic as far as I could tell.
Audio quality (when not crackling/distorting) was nothing to write home about, which makes the selling point of these purely aesthetics - and I really cannot stand the aesthetic they went with. To me, these are in the category of low-to-mid end cans that you shouldn't spend more than $50-$75 on based on my experience with them.
A $150 pair of Grados would blow these out of the water. $299 is purely a price set so that people will compare them to Beats, and is NOT an indication of quality. The guy chatting with me focused on "style and appearance" as the selling points, rather than "quality of audio and durability."
TL;DR - I really didn't like them and wouldn't buy a pair at any price.
BabyWrinklesWell certainly you can't judge the sound quality of headphones using mp3's/streaming music from an iPad and 96-128Kbps sound quality, and specially on CES where internet signal is too bad, and the noisy ambient of a open booth in the CC, I went to the CES too and I bought these headphones, and I have tested FLAC16 and CDs and I can't hear that distortion that you are talking even at 100% volume. Anyways thanks for your insight. I will buy the Icon from A-Audio that features wireless and ANC and in my honest opinion is one of the best wireless headphones out there.
HelldrakonFantastic! I'm glad your experience with these is a good counterpoint to mine. The music was playing from synced content within the Music app on the device, connected via a wire. I asked about it specifically as to why they didn't have an amp/external DAC/better source and his indication is that since this is how most people would listen to it, it's how they wanted to demo it.
Again: emphasizing that their target market is NOT people interested in the best possible audio quality, but the people who want to look cool while wearing headphones in public.
I didn't get the chance to play with anything in Wireless mode, and I avoid wireless headphones as much as I can so I would have zero point of comparison on that point.
These sure do look very nice, love the look. But not enough reviews and customer feedback to buy Headphones just for the looks of them. Especially for a brand that lauds Beats by Dre. headphones...
